Support for Virtualized environment - Sub Capacity licensing


Sub capacity entitlement, licensing and ILMT

Using a virtualised environment gives the possibility to benefit the sub-capacity licensing.
The following document provides information on Eligible Virtualization Technology & Eligible Operating Systems Technology.
Sub-capacity licensing lets you license a PVU-based software program for less than the full processor core capacity of the server.
To be elected to sub capacity the program (software) has to be deployed in an eligible virtualization environment.

It is IMPORTANT to note that the installation of the IBM Licence Metric Tool (ILMT) is MANDATORY for all clients agreeing to Passport Advantage PVU-based virtualization capacity (sub-capacity) offerings license terms  Reports must be created, verified, adjusted, signed, and saved to at least 2 years.
There are exceptions for this installation:
§
  • Small environment: the customer's worldwide enterprise has fewer than 1,000 employees and contractors, excluding Service Providers, and customers who have contracted with a Service Provider to manage their virtualized server environment.
  • Customers with any of the following alternative products:
    • Tivoli License Compliance Manager for IBM Software (EOM)
    • Tivoli License Compliance Manager (EOM)
    • Tivoli Asset Discovery for Distributed
